Welcome to Westgarth Primary School

‘Where Every Student Thrives’

A very warm welcome to the Westgarth Primary School website. At Westgarth, we are very proud of our school and of the children that come to our school. Our motto ‘Where Every Student Thrives…’ demonstrates our firm commitment to our children and families. We aim to ensure that each and every child belonging to our Westgarth family is happy, confident and nurtured to reach their full potential, through providing a warm, inclusive, safe environment which puts wellbeing at the heart of what we do. Our strength is in our relationships and interactions with each other.

We are committed to providing a stimulating and motivating learning environment, one that equips and prepares our pupils for the 21st Century. We believe that everyone in school should enjoy their learning and feel proud of their achievements. To fulfil this, we will provide a curriculum which gives equal value to developing children’s academic, social, physical and emotional understanding. Our aim is to prepare every child so that they can make a positive contribution to the society in which they live and that they can function in the fast changing world in which they find themselves and we believe that by fostering a lifelong love of learning and the Westgarth values of Kindness, Respect, Independence and Resilience, we are providing the key foundations for our pupils to be able to live a full and happy adult life (thriving, not surviving).

As a school community we believe that our children only thrive when the entire school community – pupils, parents, staff, governors and the local community come together. We strongly value the relationships we have with our parents and recognise that effective partnerships are essential. We appreciate and value the support our parents give us and the role they play in enriching our children’s experiences and supporting their child’s education.
