Westgarth Primary School takes part in as many inter and intra sports opportunities as we possibly can.

Our year 5 and 6 children have took part in many basketball competions throughout the year. The competitions begin with a series of small cluster games which are played at Bydales Secondary School. The children then progressed further in the competitions competing against other Redcar and Cleveland schools.
Our year 3, 4 and 5 children have been working with Mr Buckby focusing on indoor athletics. The children have experienced a series of fun but hard-fought activities - including power throwing, the standing long jump and relay racing.
We held a Games Day where pupils had the chance to take part in a variety of sporting events including, Cricket, Relay race, basketball, bean bag toss, hockey and many more.
A Girls Soccer Coach came to to coach our girls in football skills. The girls team were entered in the Brotton carnival where they achieved second place, these talented girls could be our future lionesses!
Sports Challenge Week
We had a fantastic week of sport including; Cycling, Judo, Street Dance, Relay Madness, Golf, Gymnastics, Netball, Racquet Ball, Archery, Hockey, Rugby, Football, Bowls and a Climbing Wall.
We have had a fantastic week taking part in judo. We learnt basic movements and skills.
X Country Trials
Bydales Secondary School hosts many cluster cross country trials across all key stages. The children who progress go on to represent Redcar and Cleveland. This event attracts competitors from across the county, with hundreds of youngsters taking part at different age levels from more than 40 schools.
The whole school took part in a sports science week. The science behind keeping our body healthy and active. Themes incuded, Teeth, Bones, Diet, Running, Cycling, Golf, Yoga and Athletics.
